Among the hospital's resources for assurance of considerate, respectful
care is Parrish Medical Center's Ethics Committee, comprised of representatives
from many professions and the community. The Ethics Committee aims to
be a source of education, policy review and consultation for the hospital,
physicians, patients and community on issues of medical ethics and dilemmas.
You can contact the committee by speaking to your doctor or nurse, or
the customer relations coordinator.
A patient (or his/her representative) has the right to be treated with
courtesy and respect, with appreciation of his/her individual dignity,
and with protection of his/her need for privacy. Patients also have a
responsibility to provide their healthcare provider, to the best of his/her
knowledge, accurate and complete information about present complaints,
past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications, and other matters relating

The Joint Commission addresses all complaints that relate to quality of
care issues within the scope of their standards. These include issues
such as patient rights, care of patients, safety, infection control, medication
use and security. The Joint Commission does not address individual billing
issues and payment disputes. They do not have jurisdiction in labor relation’s
issues or the individual clinical management of a patient. If you have
