Here at Parrish, we know that every woman is a unique individual with their own needs. We pride ourselves on delivering a fully customized, caring and compassionate healing experience with every visit. New parents, Kamryn and Marquel, could not wait to share how Parrish Care Partners, did just that. “They surpassed our birthing expectations,” exclaimed Kamryn.

A natural birth was so important to Kamryn and Marquel. Each nurse who worked with them knew their birthing plan. One nurse in particular, Elizabeth Gibbs, RN, knew Kamryn did not want a caesarian. When an issue arose with the labor, she advocated for Kamryn making sure this was the last possible action. “It was beautiful how Elizabeth, listened to me, cared for me and fought for me,” said Kamryn.

Kamryn said, “Lorraine [Cunniff, RN], stayed with me after her shift, comforting me and coaching me. I could not have asked for a better person by my side. Lorraine had the best energy. You could tell she loved her job, she didn’t just clock in, she showed up and was present. I felt as though she was a hug in a human form, just what I needed, made just for me.

“Dr. Manuel Navas was so patient, he listened to me and never pushed me to make a hasty decision. I felt empowered as a woman that he allowed me to have my say. He let me fight my fight and only when it was necessary he advised me different.” After a long and exhausting labor with no success of baby. Kamryn had to hear the news that she would need to deliver via caesarian. She was exhausted and a feeling of defeat had sunk in.

“At the end of the day I am okay with how it all turned out, even though it wasn’t how I wanted it to be”, said Kamryn, “each nurse, praised me for my hard work and perseverance. I feel proud of myself for knowing that WE tried all possible avenues but had to succumb to the fact that a natural birth was not in the cards for me.

“Women’s Center nurses, Lorraine Cunniff, Elizabeth Gibbs, Jordan Anthony, Susan Munsey-Perry, Ashley Antun, Brittany Forgino, Olivia Maggs and Lactation Consultant, Angela Sima; this group of ladies were hands down, the very best! They were patient when I needed it, and gave me constant encouragement to keep me going. The whole team made my labor seamless.

“The nursing staff was a big part of my healing. It was women up-lifting women, these ladies validated me, when I felt defeated. My birthing journey was wonderful because I had a great support system. If I have to go through this again, Parrish is absolutely my first choice”, proclaimed Kamryn.
