Pastoral Spiritual Support

Spiritual Care at Parrish Medical Center

Spiritual care for patients and families is an integral part of the healing process and comprehensive healthcare. Parrish Medical Center provides 24-hour spiritual and faith support to patients and families. Our Director of Pastoral Care, Reverend Jerald Smith, D. Min., is board certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains. Should you or your family desire spiritual support during your hospital stay, Chaplain Smith may be reached at extension 3526. If you need help contacting someone from your faith community, you may call the Chaplain, or ask your nurse for assistance.

The All Faiths Chapel is located on the second floor near the top of the staircase.

Partners in Healing Program

Good spiritual and emotional health have a positive effect on physical health and recovery from illness.
As a healing hospital, Parrish Medical Center (PMC) has partnered with local faith communities to provide you with emotional and spiritual support after you leave the hospital.

During your hosptial stay, you may have questions and concerns about your care after leaving the hospital. This program is intended to address those questions and help you find spiritual support in the community. But it doesn’t stop there.

Once you leave the hospital, a representative from the PMC Partners in Healing program will follow-up with spiritual and emotional support. We want to be sure you have everything you need for a full recovery. It matters that healing continues after you leave the hospital.

Ethical Concerns

There are times when questions and options about medical care and treatment can conflict with personal believes and spiritual teachings. Parrish Medical Center's Ethics Committee - a multidisciplinary group of physicians, clergy, hospital staff, and community members - is available for consultation.
