Blood and Organ Tissue Donation

There Is No Greater Gift than the Gift of Life

Donating blood or becoming an organ donor doesn’t take much of your time, but it can make all the difference for someone in need. You don’t need a cape to be a hero – sign up for a Parrish Medical Center blood drive today to learn how you can save lives in your community.

Blood Donation

Parrish Medical Center blood drives are held every eight weeks by Florida's Blood Centers of Orlando, FL. FBC supplies the blood to ALL the hospitals in Brevard County plus most of Central Florida. The mobile comes to PMC every eight weeks.

Blood drives are usually on Thursdays. Donors can give blood between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the PMC blood drive schedule for specific dates.

Did you know:

  • Every three seconds an American needs a pint of blood.
  • Sixty percent of the population is eligible to donate but only five percent do.
  • Each donation can save three lives because the blood is separated into three components.
  • Because blood is only good for 42 days, the supply must be replenished on a regular basis.
  • Donating blood takes less than an hour.
  • Blood drives check for blood pressure, cholesterol and iron levels.

Organ & Tissue Donation

One organ, tissue, and marrow donor can potentially help save the lives or restore good health to several people. The shortage of donors is so severe that many people every day die as they wait for organs that could save their lives.

You can indicate your intent to be a donor by signing and carrying a donor card, having "organ donor" imprinted on your driver's license or official identification card, or expressing your intent to donate through an Advance Directive (living will). By saying yes to tissue donation, you are making an incredible decision that will positively impact the lives of several people whose lives will be saved.
