TITUSVILLE, FLA. (April 7, 2026)—Parrish Medical Group (PMG), in partnership with Who We Play For (WWPF), will offer pre-participation sports physicals and heart screening events for the upcoming school year. These events help ensure student-athletes are physically ready to safely participate in youth sports.
A community sports physical event will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 8:00AM to noon at Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St. John, located at 5005 Port St. John Parkway, Suite 2100, Port St. John, FL 32927.
In addition, this year Parrish Healthcare will host dedicated sports physical events at Astronaut High School, Cocoa High School and Titusville High School for currently enrolled high school students. Student-athletes and their families should contact their school’s designated representative for specific event dates and times:
- Astronaut High School: Joemaris Torres
- (787) 690-8174
- Cocoa High School: Tabitha Thode
- Thode.Tabitha@brevardschools.org
- (386) 366-2477
- Titusville High School: Karina Rejtharek
- Rejtharek.Karina@brevardschools.org
- (949) 933-0895
Sports physicals are $10 per athlete, with proceeds supporting the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation and participating high schools. A parent or guardian must accompany student athletes to their physical, and students should wear a t-shirt and shorts to complete the exam. The following PMG providers, assisted by athletic trainers, will conduct the sports physicals:Dr. Anthony Allotta, Rebecca Fagan, APRN and Andreanna Leggett, APRN.
WWPF, a nonprofit organization that exists to eliminate preventable sudden cardiac death in young athletes, will also offer on-site electrocardiograms (ECGs) for $20 per athlete. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) causes a person’s heartbeat to stop abruptly and unexpectantly. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the leading cause of SCA under the age of 30 and ECGs are the most effective tool to identify youth at risk for SCA. Athletes interested in an ECG must register at whoweplayfor.org.
“Completing pre-participation sports physicals gives us the opportunity to ensure North Brevard student-athletes are physically ready to compete safely,” said Dr. Allotta, fellowship-trained in sports medicine. “If a student has a condition that may prevent participation, we can identify it early and create a plan to address it proactively.”
