PMC Ranked Top Performer by Joint Commission

Parrish Medical Center (PMC) has been recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for the third consecutive year by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States.

PMC was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” a summary of data on 49 accountability measures reported by more than 3,300 Joint Commission-accredited hospitals in 2014.

A Top Performer attains and sustains excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. PMC is one of only 435 of the 3,300 Joint Commission accredited hospitals in the United States to achieve the Top Performer distinction for the past three consecutive years.

The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients. To be a Top Performer, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria, including:

  • Achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures;
  • Achieving performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure where there were at least 30 denominator cases; and
  • Having at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and (within that measure set) all applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above.

“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts of Parrish Medical Center for their excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions,” said Mark R. Chassin, MD, FACP, MPP, MPH, president and CEO, The Joint Commission in a letter from The Joint Commission.

“To fulfill our mission—Healing experiences for everyone all the time® we make continuous performance improvement a priority,” said George Mikitarian, President/CEO, Parrish Medical Center. “We are proud to again be named a top performer as it recognizes the knowledge, teamwork and dedication of our integrated teams of more than 1,300 care partner employees, physicians, volunteers, and affiliated partners in care.”
