A Letter to Our Community: In Memory of Jessie Kirk

A letter to our community from Jess Parrish Medical Foundation Chair, Melissa Lugo:

The Jess Parrish Medical Foundation mourns the tragic loss of our dear friend and fellow board member, Jessie Kirk. Jessie was a remarkable leader, a dedicated advocate for our mission, and a cherished friend to so many in our community. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to serving others made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jessie’s dedication to JPMF spanned decades. She joined our Board in 1998 and became an integral leader, serving in every role on the Executive Committee, including as Chair from 2018 to 2020. She was deeply passionate about community impact, serving as Chair of the Community Grants Committee in 2016 after joining in 2014, and playing a vital role in recruitment as the current Nominating Chair. Her influence extended beyond JPMF as a representative on the NBMS Board, and she was a proud member of the Circle of Life Society. Jessie was also a driving force behind some of our most impactful events, from the Gala Committee to the Kentucky Derby Soiree. Her service extended far beyond the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation, touching countless organizations throughout Brevard County. She and her beloved husband, Bob, were recognized for their deep commitment to the community when they received the Space Coast Daily Humanitarian Award in 2014.

For more than a decade, I had the honor of calling Jessie a friend, and like so many, I am heartbroken by this senseless loss. Jessie had an incredible way of making those around her feel seen and supported. No matter the occasion, she was always there with a warm smile, kind words, and a genuine offer of encouragement. Her kindness and friendship were gifts I will cherish forever. Her legacy of service, kindness, and leadership will not be forgotten. On behalf of the entire Jess Parrish Medical Foundation Board of Directors and staff, our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and all who are mourning this unimaginable tragedy. We ask that you keep them in your hearts during this difficult time.
