TITUSVILLE, FL (Dec. 8, 2023)

Parrish Healthcare is introducing walk-through metal detectors at Parrish Medical Center (PMC). Metal detector screenings will begin at PMC’s Emergency Department public entrance on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 7 am. Security will be posted 24/7 at the Emergency Department entrance to manage the screening process. The main public entrance to PMC is scheduled to begin metal detector screenings during the first quarter of 2024.

“This added level of screening enhances our complement of security capabilities and helps to fortify our ability to prevent firearms, weapons or other prohibited contraband from being brought into the hospital,” said Parrish Healthcare Safety and Security Director Greg George.

All screenings are conducted in an orderly manner that is consistent to industry standards, conforming to legal regulations, and with minimal intrusion to privacy rights.

“Our policy is not intended to prohibit individuals from keeping lawfully possessed firearms locked inside a private motor vehicle in our parking lot. If a firearm or weapon is detected we will ask the individual to either lock it in their motor vehicle or we will secure it for them while on the premises and return it when they leave the facility,” added George.
