Parrish Medical Group sponsored the most recent Buddy Walk held on October
25, 2014 at Cocoa Village Riverfront Park. The event was well attended
with many fun-filled activities and entertainment, including music, face
painting, and clowns.
The Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome
Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote
acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk
has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks in 2013 worldwide.
Brevard County’s Annual Buddy Walk is in its twelfth year and is
the major fundraiser for Families Exploring Down Syndrome of Brevard,
Inc. The money raised is used to help Brevard county residents with Down syndrome.
