JPMF Golf Tournament Raises $22,000

The Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) “Fran Gerrett Memorial Golf Classic 2012,” held on December 8, 2012, at Sherwood Golf Club in Titusville, raised more than $22,000. Proceeds benefit The Children's Center (TCC) in Titusville, which annually serves nearly 2,500 special needs and typically developing children.

“JPMF has been supporting TCC since its inception in 2000. This golf tournament helps provide financial support for TCC so the children in our community can grow and develop to their fullest potential,” said Greg Sparkman, golf committee cochair.

Medline Industries was the presenting sponsor of the tournament. Other event sponsors included: Coastal Ambulance, golf towel sponsor; MedFast Urgent Care Centers, Inc., hat sponsor; “Executive” sponsors TeamHealth Emergency Medicine and Roche Diagnostics; and “Corporate” sponsors Boggs Gases, Bott-Anderson Partners, Inc., Carmona Pathology Associates, P.A., Florida Bracing Centers, Inc., Graphic Press, KCI, La Cita Country Club, MetLife, Nabil Itani, D.O., Sego’s Home Medical Equipment, Space Coast Radiology Associates, and The Watauga Company.

More than 130 golfers participated in the tournament, which was named in memory of former Parrish Medical Center Materials Management Director Fran Gerrett. “Fran was so generous and one of the biggest supporters of The Children’s Center. It was only fitting that our annual golf tournament be renamed in his honor,” said Kathy Myer, cochair of the golf committee and director of Women’s Services at Parrish Medical Center.

“Fran’s daughters, Leigh Connell, Amy Craddock and Lynn Kelly, joined the committee and were a tremendous help. It was so nice to see them continue Fran’s generous spirit,” added Myer. The first-place men’s team was Wayne Aills, Mike Colman, Tuffy Threlkeld and Harold Todd.

The first place women’s team was Lorna Adams, Martha Hannah, Mary Jane Thompson, and Suzanne Yarbrough. The first place mixed team was Scott Charron, Jason Guptill, Claudine Mogg and Karen Moore. Door prizes for attendees were donated by many local businesses such as Airpark Golf Academy, El Leoncito, Titusville Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Pumpernickel’s Delicatessen and many more. Lunch was donated by La Cita Country Club.

Ryan Minthorn was the lucky winner of the ball drop hosted by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. He was presented with a check for $1,000. Other members of the golf committee included: Dr. Anthony Allotta, Santi Bulnes, Lori and Paul Duester, Randa Itani, Greg Phillips, Tina Spangler-Phillips, Tim Skeldon, and Suzanne Yarbrough.

“We’d like to thank all our sponsors, participants, committee members, and volunteers who helped us exceed our goal and make this event a huge success for the children in our community,” said Chris Broome, chairman of the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation Board of Directors.
