Brevard County Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group

Pat Paton, a founder of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and current board member, will be the featured speaker at the July meeting of the Brevard County Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group on Thursday, July 14, 2011. The group meets at Grace United Methodist Church, 65 Needle Blvd., Merritt Island, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The support group is facilitated by Janet Rooks, MA, coordinator of Parrish Senior Solutions, located in Titusville.

Ms. Paton will discuss the journey of living with pulmonary hypertension.

Pulmonary hypertension is abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs, which makes the right side of the heart need to work harder than normal.

This is the only pulmonary hypertension support group in Brevard County. Anyone living with pulmonary hypertension and their family members are welcome to attend. A light dinner will be served.

For more information, contact Janet Rooks at 321-268-6800.

Please RSVP no later than Monday, July 11.

A service of Parrish Medical Center, Parrish Senior Solutions, 805-A Century Medical Drive, Titusville, Fla., assists seniors and caregivers (spouse, children, family member or friend) with finding the services and information they need. Geriatric patients and their caregivers will find information about support services, educational materials, and information about health concerns and community resources. It also serves as a lifeline to long-distance caregivers—children who do not live in the area but want to ensure their parents and loved ones have the services and support they need.
