JPMF Receives Grants for The Children's Center

Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) has received several grants for The Children’s Center playground expansion and refurbishment project.

The Boeing Employee Community Fund presented JPMF with a grant of $3,289 that will be used to replace the 10 year old large canvas umbrella that protects the children from the hot Florida sun. “Many of the children are extra sensitive to the sun and this is a much needed replacement as the old umbrella has torn and been repaired one time too many and the 10 year old fabric won’t hold any more repairs,” said Center Manager Lori Duester.

A grant of $1,170 from the Community Foundation of Brevard will be used to purchase concrete for a toddler bicycle path. GRA Construction, LLC has donated the earthwork and concrete labor to build the bicycle path. Additionally, Home Depot selected The Children’s Center as their 3rd quarter Team Depot community project and will supply materials and volunteers to build a bicycle parking garage for the toddler play area.

The Children’s Center served 250 children yearly when it first opened in 2000. Now celebrating its 10 year anniversary, The Children’s Center serves over 2,500 children yearly. With all the growth and success has come a lot of wear and tear on the playground, and we’d like to thank these local companies for their support of this important project,” said Laurie Smirl, executive director of Jess Parrish Medical Foundation.
