Mims Volunteer Fire Department Donates Proceeds from Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser to Jess Parrish Medical Foundation for Second Consecutive Year

The Mims Volunteer Fire Department continued their commitment to breast cancer awareness by donating proceeds from their annual Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt Fundraiser to the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation in support of Parrish HealthCare’s Oncology Program.

Throughout October, firefighters, volunteers and community members joined together to raise funds by selling Mims Volunteer Fire Department pink t-shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The overwhelming community support allowed the fire department to make a meaningful contribution, for a second consecutive year, to the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation.

“This fundraiser has become a tradition that unites our community around a shared cause,” said Carlo Prelle, deputy chief of the Mims Volunteer Fire Department. “We’re honored to support the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation and Parrish Healthcare’s Oncology Program again this year and to help raise awareness for early detection, treatment and support resources for those fighting breast cancer.”

Since 2024, the Mims Volunteer Fire Department has raised nearly $1,000 to help expand access to vital breast health services including mammograms, diagnostic screenings and Cancer Boutique resources for underinsured and uninsured individuals in North Brevard.

“We are deeply grateful for the Mims Volunteer Fire Department’s dedication to our community and to the patients we serve,” said Shannon Luker, breast health navigator, and oncology program coordinator at Parrish Healthcare. “Their generosity directly supports early detection, treatment assistance and compassionate care for individuals in need.”
