Parrish Health & Fitness Update

Parrish Health & Fitness Update

First, thank you for your loyalty during this difficult time. We hope you and yours have been healthy and safe.

This memo serves to provide an update on the reopening status of the Parrish Health & Fitness Center.

While many gyms are opting to reopen at this time, Parrish Health and Fitness Center will remain closed until further notice.

Parrish Health and Fitness Center is not a gym. It is a medical fitness center and an extension of our Parrish Healthcare family. The decision to remain closed is not made lightly but it is necessary. The COVID crisis continues to pose all the same risks to public health as it did at the onset of the pandemic. There is still no vaccine or cure for this highly contagious virus. Protecting the health and safety of the lives entrusted to our care is more than a priority for us it is our duty as healthcare stewards. A plan to assure member safety was drafted, evaluated, and determined not feasible at this time. It is important to remember that as an extension of our hospital and outpatient services many people are members of our Parrish Health & Fitness Center for the purpose of rehabilitating an injury or recovering from an illness placing them within the high-risk categories.

The risks for potential exposure outweighed the benefit of reopening. We simply cannot in good conscious reopen at this time. We will refund any unused services on members’ accounts over the next 30-days. We will re-evaluate reopening when officials announce Phase 3 of the Governors’ reopening plan for the state.

Thank you for your understanding and for your commitment to healthy living and to the principles of prevention.
