  • The Children’s Center, a service of Parrish Healthcare, earns National NAEYC Accreditation. Program recognized among the top in the nation by earning accreditation.
    • The Children’s Center has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)—the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children. NAEYC Accreditation is a rigorous and transformative quality-improvement system that uses a set of 10 research-based standards to collaborate with early education programs to recognize and drive quality-improvement in high-quality early learning environments.
  • Parrish Medical Center becomes first hospital in Brevard County to adopt the newest Basic Life Support training through the American Heart Association called the Resuscitation Quality Improvement program.

  • Parrish Medical Center Earns an ‘A’ Grade for Patient Safety from The LeapFrog Group as announced in the Spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
    • Parrish Medical Center earned an ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group as announced today in the spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Parrish Medical Center’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare.
  • Parrish Medical Center designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.
    • Parrish Healthcare is marking 10 years as an accredited breast imaging center of excellence, a decade in which more than 92,000 exams have received the “highest level of image quality and safety,” according to the nation’s premier imaging accrediting organization. In 2009, Parrish Medical Center (PMC) first earned American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation.
2018
  • Parrish Medical Center World’s first five-start patient safety hospital.
    • A world conference held in London, England on patient safety, science and technology recognized Parrish Medical Center (PMC) as the world’s first hospital to commit to a series of lifesaving patient safety goals and presented a humanitarian award to the PMC official leading the hospital’s work on the safety project. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation’s 6th annual World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit, co-convened by the European Society of Anesthesiology, took place Feb. 23 – 25 in central London with healthcare practitioners and industry members attending from at least 25 countries.
  • Parrish Medical Center Cancer Program Reaccredited by American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Parrish’s program is area’s longest continually accredited cancer program
    • Parrish Medical Center (PMC) has extended its streak as the area’s longest continually accredited cancer program by again earning certification from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). The PMC program, first accredited in 1989, is one of only two CoC-recognized programs in Brevard County.
  • The Joint Commission awards PMC with full hospital reaccreditation
  • The Joint Commission awards Integrated Care Recertification to Parrish Medical Center, nation’s first - and only - to earn integrated care recognition.
    • The integrated health care system created by Parrish Medical Center (PMC) has earned recertification after an intensive review by America’s premier health care accrediting body.
2017
  • Parrish Medical Center makes Becker's Hospital Review "Top 150 Great Places to Work in 2017" list.
    • For the second consecutive year, Parrish Medical Center, a Parrish Healthcare integrated care partner, has earned a spot on the list, which, according to Becker's, recognizes organizations committed to fulfilling missions, creating outstanding cultures and offering competitive benefits to their employees.
  • Parrish Medical Center Earns Top 100 SafeCare Hospitals® Distinction.
    • According to the SafeCare Group, this distinction is not an award that hospitals receive but one that is earned based upon performance in the comprehensive, evidence-based metrics of the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) hospital value-based program (HVBP), readmissions reduction program (HRRP), and acquired complications reduction program (HACRP).
  • Parrish Wound Healing Centers Receive National Awards for Excellence in Wound Care.
    • Parrish Wound Healing Centers in Titusville and Port St. John have been recognized with national awards for continued clinical excellence in wound healing by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. Both centers were recognized as Centers of Distinction, and the Port St. John center was also named a Center of Excellence.
  • Parrish Medical Center Receives the 2017 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety from the Women’s Choice Award®
    • America’s trusted referral source for the best in healthcare. The award signifies that PMC is in the top 15 percent of 3,005 U.S. hospitals for patient safety and recognizes safe surgery practices and lower rates for complications and infections.
  • PMC Recertified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission
2016
  • Parrish Medical Center Designated Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care.
  • Parrish ranks among top “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review 2016, a premier national healthcare publication.
  • Parrish Medical Center earns straight-A Hospital Safety Rating from The Leapfrog Group in October 2016.
    • Parrish Medical Center has earned straight As' in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade since 2012, making PMC one of only 72 hospitals across the nation able to stake this claim.
  • The Joint Commission Awards nation’s first Integrated Care Certification to Parrish Medical Center, 2019.
    • Parrish Medical Center is dedicated to improving outcomes through integration, coordination of care.
  • Parrish Medical Center was again honored with the Women's Choice Award for being one of America's Best Stroke Centers (2016/2015).
    • For second straight year The Women’s Choice Award honored PMC. It is the only declaration that integrates clinical excellence (CMS) and consumer experience (HCAHPS) to provide women, the family’s Chief Health Officers, the ability to make the best healthcare decision for their families.
  • Parrish Medical Center earns ninth straight-A Hospital Safety Rating from The Leapfrog Group in Spring of 2016.

    • PMC in top 2 percent of U.S. hospitals for best processes, outcomes and effective care.
  • Parrish Medical Center earns eighth straight-A Hospital Safety Rating from The Leapfrog Group in October 2015, making PMC one of 133 hospitals in the nation, one of 15 in Florida, and the only one in Brevard Country to have earned all A’s.
  • Parrish Medical Center has earned The Jackson Group Laureate Award for Workplace Excellence.
    • The Laureate Award for Workplace Excellence is earned by fewer than five percent of healthcare organizations surveyed by the company.
  • Parrish Medical Center was honored with the 2015 Women's Choice Award for being one of America's 50 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care.
    • The Women’s Choice Award is the only declaration that integrates clinical excellence (CMS) and consumer experience (HCAHPS) to provide women, the family’s Chief Health Officers, the ability to make the best healthcare decision for their families.
  • Parrish Medical Center was recognized as a Top Performer by VHA Inc.’s Hospital Engagement Network (HEN).
    • PMC sustained a zero rate for three consecutive quarters for Catheterassociated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Ventilator-associated Pneumonia (VAP), Early Elective Delivery (EED), and Central Line-associated Blood Stream Infection (CLABSI).
  • Parrish Medical Center was recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States.
    • PMC was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety, a summary of data on 49 accountability measures reported by more than 3,300 Joint Commissionaccredited hospitals in 2014.
  • Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™ was earned by Parrish Medical Center.
    • This distinction recognizes the top 10 percent of hospitals as leaders in patient safety based on our analysis of Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) patient safety indicators.
  • Parrish Medical Center earns seventh straight A Hospital Safety Rating from The Leapfrog Group in Spring 2015.
    • PMC is one of only 182 hospitals nationwide to have earned straight As from The Leapfrog Group in hospital safety since 2012.

2014
  • Parrish Medical Center rated #1 Safest Hospital in Florida by Consumer Reports
    • This annual report is based on Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services data related to preventing infections, mortality rates, communication with patients, readmission rates, and overuse of imaging. PMC’s score of 68 (out of 100) makes it the top rated hospital in Florida. The top hospital in the US this year had a score of 78. PMC is one of only 37 hospitals in the United States to receive Consumer Reports highest patient safety rating in preventing surgical-site infections, central-line infections, and infections stemming from urinary catheters. (Data is from April 2012 to March 2013.)
  • Parrish Medical Center was recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States.
    • PMC was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report, America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety, for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance in four categories: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. This is the second year PMC has been recognized as a Top Performer in these four categories.
  • Parrish Medical Center earns sixth straight A Hospital Safety Rating from The Leapfrog Group in October 2014.
    • Only 204 hospitals across the country, and 17 in Florida, including PMC, have received A grades in all six reports released by Leapfrog since spring 2012. PMC is the only Brevard County hospital to have earned six A ratings.
  • Parrish Medical Center Clinical Laboratory was accredited for another two years by the College of American Pathologists.
    • The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program helps to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education, standard setting, and ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements worldwide.
    • Parrish Medical Center Transfusion Services was accredited for another two years by AABB. AABB is an international, not-for-profit association representing individuals and institutions involved in the field of transfusion medicine and cellular therapies. PMC’s participation in the AABB assessment represents a strong commitment to quality outcomes and patient safety.
  • Parrish Medical Center Cancer Program earned three-year continued accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), since 1989.
    • Receiving care at a CoC-approved cancer program ensures that a patient will have access to: Comprehensive care, including a range of state-of-the art services and equipment; Multispecialty, team approach to coordinate the best treatment options; Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options; Access to cancer-related information, education, and support; A cancer registry that collects data on type and stage of cancers and treatment results and offers lifelong patient follow-up; Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care; And, most importantly, quality care close to home
  • Parrish Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging Breast Ultrasound Program and CT Scanners earned continued three-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology, since.
2013
  • Parrish Medical Center has been awarded four disease-specific certification Gold Seals® from the Joint Commission in acute coronary syndrome, breast cancer, heart failure and stroke.
  • PMC recertified as Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission
  • Parrish Medical Center Earns the Women’s Choice Award for Excellence in Orthopedics.
    • Selection of Parrish Medical Center on list of “America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience in Orthopedics” is based on women’s preferences, recommendation rating and clinical excellence.
  • Parrish Medical Center Awarded an “A” for Patient Safety by Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score.
    • This marks the third consecutive “A” rating PMC has earned from The Leapfrog Group—the only hospital in the area to have achieved that distinction.
2012
  • Parrish Medical Center is one of only 10 hospitals nationwide to earn the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHCP’s) “Hospital of Choice” Award.
    • It marks the second time AAHCP has recognized PMC for this honor. PMC earned this recognition in 2009 and again in 2012. Winning hospitals are selected based on a secret review of a facility's performance in customer service, public communication and good citizenship. AAHCP evaluates approximately 400 hospitals around the nation each quarter for consideration of this award.
  • 2012/2013 Healthgrades Cardiac Care Excellence Award.
    • PMC is rated among the top 10% in the nation for excellence in cardiac care according to Healthgrades.com, the nation's leading independent healthcare ratings organization.
  • 2012 Healthgrades Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award™.
    • Parrish Medical Center is among the best 10 percent of hospitals. HealthGrades 2012 Trends in Women’s Health in American Hospitals Report finds that collectively, from 2008–2010, if all hospitals in America performed at 5-star quality women would have had nearly 32,000 fewer gynecologic surgery complications. Only hospital in Brevard County to earn award.
  • 2012 The Joint Commission awards PMC with full hospital reaccreditation
2011
  • PMC named a HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence™ Second year in a row. Distinction based on PMC rank in the top five percent in the nation in clinical quality based on a new HealthGrades study, which analyzed patient outcomes at each of the nation’s 5,000 nonfederal hospitals over the years 2007, 2008 and 2009.
  • Non-Profit Business of the Year from Andrew Jackson Middle School for PMC’s support and partnership of the school’s J.U.M.P. program—Jackson’s Ultimate Mentoring Program. PMC supports the J.U.M.P. program with a financial contribution and annual Career Day event.
2010
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease Coalition’s Annual Stay in Circulation Community Service Award
    • The Stay in Circulation Community Service Award recognizes collaborative programs focused on increasing awareness about peripheral arterial disease to high-risk populations, patients and/or the healthcare community. The Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) Coalition is an international alliance of more than 80 North American and European health organizations, professional societies, government agencies and corporations united to improve the health and care of patients with P.A.D.
  • Florida Sterling Team Showcase PMC was named Florida state champion in the Florida Sterling Council Sterling Team Showcase.
    • The entry included a written application, judges' interview and a live presentation. PMC’s team, called “Worst to First,” focused on the Physician Advisory Leaders (PALs) Program. The annual Sterling Conference Team Showcase provides a public forum for participative teams to demonstrate the principles and techniques of improving organizational performance through employee participation.
  • Gallup Great Workplace Award, based on the most rigorous workplace research ever conducted.
    • Parrish Medical Center is among the winners because its results demonstrate one of the most productive and engaged workforces in the world.
  • The J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Program.
    • This distinction acknowledges a strong commitment by Parrish Medical Center to provide "An Outstanding Inpatient Experience."
  • PMC named a HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence™
    • Distinction based on PMC rank in the top five percent in the nation in clinical quality based on a new HealthGrades study, which analyzed patient outcomes at each of the nation's 5,000 nonfederal hospitals over the years 2006, 2007 and 2008. According to HealthGrades, of the more than 5,000 American hospitals only 30 total and three in Florida (Baptist Hospital of Miami, Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville and Parrish Medical Center) received both the 2010 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™ and the 2009/2010 Outstanding Patient Satisfaction Award™.
  • The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), recognized Parrish Medical Center's Endoscopy Unit as part of its program specifically dedicated to promoting quality in endoscopy, in all settings where it is practiced in the United States.
    • Parrish Medical Center's endoscopy unit is one of only 167 endoscopy units to be granted the recognition since 2009.
  • Parrish Medical Center has been awarded four disease-specific certification gold seals from the Joint Commission in acute coronary syndrome, breast cancer, heart failure and stroke.

  • 2009 Business of the Year presented by the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce; recognized for exemplifying excellence in business by taking care of our employees and customers, and also by taking care of the community.
  • 2009/2010 Parrish Medical Center is rated among the top 10% in the nation for excellence in orthopedic surgery according to Healthgrades.com, the nation's leading independent healthcare ratings organization.
  • Named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2009 by Modern Healthcare business magazine; based on organizational and randomly selected employee survey results.
    • Eight core areas were analyzed: leadership and planning; culture and communications; role satisfaction; working environment; relationship with supervisor; training and development; and pay and benefits. PMC was the only Central Florida hospital to be named for 2009.
  • 2009/2010 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ from HealthGrades, the nation's leading independent healthcare ratings organization.
    • PMC ranked in the top 15 percent of all eligible hospitals in patient experience, based on patient satisfaction survey results provided as part of the HCAHPS federal initiative to provide consumers with more information about hospital performance. PMC is one of only nine Florida hospitals to receive this award.

2007/2008
  • 2007/2008 Bright Ideas Award for workforce improvement from VHA Southeast for its Physician Advisory Leader (PAL) program. The Physician Advisory Leader (PAL) program at Parrish Medical Center selects physicians for a yearlong leadership curriculum that builds trust, leadership skills and relationships between physicians, board of directors and administration.
  • ADVANCE for Nurses newsmagazine "top hospitals" award in the magazine's second annual Readers' Choice survey for the state of Florida. PMC was the only hospital selected in any category in East-Central Florida. Voting was open to registered nurses (RNs) who ranked a selected hospital in areas that matter to nurses: quality of care, organizational culture, professional development, communication, and retention efforts. PMC scored highly for quality of care.
  • Central Florida's exclusive member of the Spirit of Women® Hospital Network, a coalition of healthcare providers across the United States dedicated to the highest standards of excellence in women's health, education, and community outreach.
