Join PMC in Its Tribute to Women's Health Week

Have you celebrated the women in your life lately? Parrish Medical Center (PMC) has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in commemorating Women’s Health Week, (May 8–14, 2011). Did you know that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 35 percent of women over the age of 20 are obese, 33 percent of women over the age of 20 have hypertension, and 1,219,744 women are dying every year? Many times symptoms can be easily overlooked and women UNKNOWINGLY put their health at risk.

“Women have mastered the art of taking care of those they love, but in the midst of that, they really lose sight of taking care of themselves,” says Natalie Sellers, PMC spokeswoman. “Nowadays there are so many symptomless diseases that attack women. It is imperative to stay informed about the latest ways to detect illness early and to know the score when it comes to your health.”

That is why PMC offers free HealthAware online risk assessments for diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and sleep disorders. Find out how YOU score. It only takes a few minutes. If your score is high, you can choose to have a FREE consultation with a PMC health advisor to develop a game plan.

“Parrish Medical Center prides itself as the leading healthcare provider in Brevard,” said Sellers. “We work together with our community so we can all lead longer, happier and healthier lives.”

Sellers urges everyone to encourage the wonderful women in their life to know the score, stop ignoring small signs that worry them, and take action to eliminate the possibility of disease from derailing their dreams. It’s undeniable that the rewards and benefits of staying on top of your health aren’t just longevity—it also means peace of mind and the freedom to create all kinds of new and cherished memories with family and friends.

The truth is that knowledge is only half the battle—action is the other half. Join forces with Parrish Medical Center TODAY to fight the good fight for your continuous health and well-being! Women’s Health Week puts fear aside as it EMPOWERS women to take a stand and TRANSFORMS their present in order to SECURE their future!
